Born and raised in Kuwait where he grew up with five brothers, Mustafa ultimately decided to move to America to pursue a degree in engineering at the University of Illinois. In his time there, he worked various fast-food jobs, found his passion for the food industry, and saved up enough money to buy his first restaurant: Sam’s Cafe.
The creation of Sam’s Cafe was only the beginning of Mustafa’s success in the restaurant industry. His entrepreneurial spirit and work-hard mentality pushed him to build a multi-million dollar hospitality empire where he serves as Founder and CEO. His vision brought to life, Charleston Hospitality Group, which includes 5 different brand concepts, spanning from fine & casual dining restaurants to entertainment venues, to catering, and more.
After laying down a strong foundation for Charleston Hospitality Group, Mustafa has constructed an environment that is good for employers, employees, residents, and visitors of Charleston. In 2021, Sam Mustafa was recognized as one of the most influential restaurant CEOs in the country based on his efforts to give back and support the Charleston community through a year-long Full Belly, Full Hearts campaign which provided over 10,000 donated meals to those affected by the pandemic.
